Best-ever Onion Rings

These onion rings are dipped in a flour batter with beer for flavor and paprika for color, then fried in deep hot fat.

Ingredients:

  • 3 large onions, peeled and trimmed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup beer
  • Vegetable oil

Method

Cut onions into 1/2 inch slices; separate into rings. In large bowl, combine flour, paprika, salt and pepper. Stir in beer, beating with a wire whisk until foam is gone. Toss rings in batter, coating all sides. Transfer to plate. Meanwhile in deep fryer, heat oil to 375 degrees. Carefully add a few onion rings at a time to hot oil. Fry 2 to 4 minutes, or until golden. Drain on paper towels.
