Buffalo Tofu Nuggets

Extra-firm tofu is cut into cubes, deep fried until crisp, and drizzled with a mixture of Lousiana hot sauce, butter and brown sugar.
 

Ingredients

  • 16 oz extra-firm tofu
  • 1/4 cup unsweetend soy milk
  • Dash of garlic powder
  • Dash of onion powder
  • 1 tsp Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning
  • Vegetable oil for deep frying
  • 1 cup Louisiana hot sauce
  • 1/2 stick of (soy) butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • Dash of paprika

Method

Cut tofu into small cubes and place in mixing bowl. Add milk and seasonings, then toss. Now add flour by lightly coating the tofu (as if you were coating chicken to be fried.) Make sure your oil is heated to 375 degrees; use enough oil to deep fry. Gently add your tofu and fry for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown. Place on paper towels and let drain. In a saucepan heat your butter, hot sauce and sugar until it boils, then add paprika. Turn off heat and let it set for 1 minute. Remove paper towel from under tofu; pour sauce sparingly over tofu and toss. Add more sauce for finger-licking goodness. Place on party platter and serve with toothpicks or mini-forks.

 

Notes: You want your tofu to be a little crunchy after frying so you can fry an additional 3 minutes for extra crispness.
