Cream Cheese and Sour Cream Square

These homemade treats are great to serve for breakfast with coffee or in the afternoon with tea.
Ingredients
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups butter
- 3 eggs yolks
- 1 egg, beaten lightly
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 3 teaspoon vanilla
- Filling:
- 3 egg whites
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup chopped fruit or nut meat
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 cup butterscotch sauce

Method
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Sift flour and salt. Add dissolved yeast. Cut butter into flour mixture and mix thoroughly. Add eggs yolks, whole egg beaten lightly, sour cream, cream cheese and vanilla, then chill for 1 hour. Dredge in powdered sugar. Pinch off pieces of dough and roll out thin. Cut into a large square and place 2 teaspoons of filling on dough. Roll toward center into crescent or fold. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top of each one and pour a little butterscotch sauce on top of powdered sugar. Filling: In a clean bowl, beat eggs white until stiff. Add sugar, chopped fruit or nut meat and vanilla then mix well.
