Lox and Pizza

If you are looking for a new appetizer to make for your next party or looking for a way to spice up pizza night or brunch, this pizza is the ticket.

Ingredients:

  • 10 oz prepared pizza dough
  • Olive oil
  • 1/4 lb Nova Lox smoked salmon
  • 4 oz light cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons chopped dill
  • Salt, pinch
  • Fresh ground pepper to taste
  • Green onion, chopped

Method

Heat oven and pizza stone to 325 degrees. Form dough into a 10-12 inch diameter, 1/4 inch thick disk. Brush with a light coating of olive oil. Bake dough for approximately 10 minutes on middle oven rack. While dough is baking mix together cream cheese, lemon juice, dill, salt, and pepper. After dough has baked 10 minutes, remove from oven and cover with cream cheese mixture and a layer of salmon. Bake an additional 5-7 minutes. Remove from oven and top with green onion.

Notes: It is important to taste the cream cheese mixture and not add too much salt since the lox can be very salty. Baking the lox cooks out some of its oiliness and really brings out the smoky flavor. Just make sure not to overcook it as it can get too dry.

Number of servings: 2--4
