If Vidalia onions aren't available, look for another sweet variety such as Walla Walla or Maui.

Ingredients

  • 2 sweet Vidalia onions, halved and sliced
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 prepared pizza crust
  • 1 jar pizza sauce
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese

Method

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a large skillet cook onions in olive oil until soft and slightly browned. Place pizza crust on a baking sheet. Evenly spread pizza sauce over it, leaving some space along the edge for a crust. Sprinkle garlic powder and black pepper over sauce. Smother sauce with all the onions; sprinkle with cheese. Bake for 15 to 25 minutes or until cheese melts and crust is browned.
