Pico de Gallo con Avocado

Traditional salsa is even better with the addition of fresh, diced avocado.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh tomatoes
- 1 medium yellow or white onion
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 2 fresh jalapeno chilies
- 1 large avocado
- Juice of one lime
- 2 teaspoons hot sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon sea or kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

Method
Peel and seed tomatoes and cut into small bite sized pieces. Finely dice onion and mince garlic cloves. Cut jalapenos into quarters lengthwise and remove seeds the chop finely. Small dice avocado and mix with lime juice and hot sauce. Combine all ingredients and season with salt and pepper. Refrigerate for at least one hour before serving.
Notes: I serve this recipe with tortilla chips, as a sauce for tacos, and as salad dressing on my homemade taco salad. It has been a family favorite for a very long time. You can also use canned diced tomatoes with green chillies in place of fresh tomatoes.
