Whole water chestnuts are marinated in a mixture of soy sauce and sugar, then wrapped with half-slices of bacon, speared with a wooden pick, and broiled.
 

Ingredients

  • Whole Water Chestnuts
  • 1 cup Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • Bacon, cut crosswise in half (raw)

Method

1. Marinate the water chestnuts in a mixture of soy sauce and sugar until they are completely brown. 2. Drain. 3. Wrap the water chestnuts with uncooked half-slices of bacon. 4. To hold them together, spear with toothpicks. 5. Broil for 5 minutes or until bacon looks crisp.

 

Notes: Another marinade option: add a splash of pineapple or mandarin orange juice.
